How much does it cost to sell with Car & Classic?

You’ll be pleased to know that selling via a classified advert is free! If you manage your own sale, payment and transfer, it won’t cost you a penny. Additionally, if your vehicle doesn’t sell, there’s nothing to pay either, which is nice.
Auctions and offers
When it comes to selling, we offer multiple auction packages to suit your requirements. If you do make a sale via auction, or by accepting an offer, we charge 6% + VAT or a minimum fee + VAT, whichever is higher. To put that into context for you our minimum fees are:
Cars - £600/€600 + VAT
Bikes - £500€400 + VAT
If you have a vehicle listed as an advert and decide to accept an offer online through your Car & Classic account, we do charge a flat service fee of £99 inclusive of VAT. This covers our various admin and escrow payment services and allows us to continue to provide a secure and professional platform from which to transact safely.
If you withdraw from a sale, the fees set out above will still be payable. We're not doing our best Dick Turpin impression though, this is done to stamp out the time wasters and scammers in order to keep Car & Classic the very best and safest place to transact.
How do you calculate VAT?
Our fees are subject to Value Added Tax (VAT). We don’t charge VAT on the price of the vehicle, it’s only a percentage of our fee. For example, if you’re charged our minimum fee when selling a car in the UK, the VAT will be 20% of £600, making the total fee £720.
How much does it cost to buy with Car & Classic?
Buying via our classified ads incurs zero fees to buyers but when you buy via an auction, as well as when an offer has been accepted via our make an offer listings, we charge a service fee which is a non-refundable charge in addition to any winning bid or offer amount. It varies depending on the cost of the vehicle and starts from just £300. It is clearly displayed upfront before any bid is placed or offer is made so you always know exactly how much you'll be charged for each auction if you win.
The service fee covers the cost of our various auction and escrow payment services and allows us to continue to provide a secure and professional platform from which to transact safely.
We take the service fee from the card on your account when an auction ends. Once the payment has cleared, we’ll send you instructions on how to pay the winning bid amount into our secure account.
