Our auctions run for either five or seven days with each auction spending another five or seven additional days respectively in a pre-live state. Bids can be placed on auctions that are in this pre-live state but these bids will be sealed, meaning that they are not publicly visible. Only the physical number of bids is shown at this stage.
Once the auction goes live, the top pre-bid amount is then displayed as the first actual bid on the listing.
Each auction listing has a clear and accurately displayed end date and time, as well as a live countdown timer at the top of the page.
If a bid is placed within the final three minutes of a Car & Classic auction, another three minutes will automatically be added to the auction countdown. Not only does this give other bidders time to react and potentially place a counter bid if they so wish, but it also prevents “sniping”.
This will continue until all last-minute bidding stops, so be aware that the auction could run longer than the stated end time.
