# How do reserves work?

A reserve price is the lowest amount you’re willing to sell your vehicle for. They are standard practice for auctions and act as a guarantee, giving you peace of mind that your vehicle won’t sell for less than you’d like.

Our auction experts are on hand to advise on the right reserve price for your vehicle. All reserves are confidential and won’t be publicly visible on your listing, but we’ll let buyers know if the reserve has been met, nearly met or not met.

![Reserve](https://help.carandclassic.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Reserve.png?width=688&height=459&name=Reserve.png)You can also choose to list your vehicle without a reserve if you wish which could potentially lead to increased engagement and a better sale price.
