All of our sellers are verified and are required to fill out a comprehensive questionnaire in order to provide as much information as possible about their respective vehicles, and we encourage them to include as much detail as they can. Whilst the sellers themselves are ultimately responsible for the accuracy of those details we do have a dedicated in-house editorial department, as well as a team of trusted freelance writers who build the listings, all of whom are experts in the field.
We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed and we helpfully provide write-off category labels for your assistance, but it's always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before bidding.
All vehicles are “sold as seen” on an “as is where is” basis but we want you to be satisfied with any purchase made through Car & Classic and so it’s important that you’re happy with the description of the vehicle before you bid. All bids are binding and by placing a bid you’re committing to purchasing the vehicle if you win, which is why we strongly encourage potential bidders to chat with the seller using the auction comments feature on the listing, as well as request a viewing if possible.
