# Can I bid on my own auction?

No siree Bob. It's actually illegal for you, or anyone you know, to bid on your auction in order to bump up the price. It's known as “shill bidding” and is a form of fraud so it's a big no-no.

If shill bidding is known to be taking place, the vehicle will be withdrawn from auction and the seller will be charged a withdrawal fee. It may sound a bit harsh but in order to protect our users and foster a safe and trusting platform from which to transact, the person in question won't be able to sell with Car & Classic in the future and we may take legal action, so behave please.
